MedCu dressings are made of an internal absorbent layer and an external non-binding layer, both impregnated with copper oxide particles. The sustained release of copper ions gives the dressing potent, wide-spectrum antimicrobial properties that are highly effective against resistant organisms such as VRE and MRSA, while copper's natural biological role also supports angiogenesis and the production of new extracellular matrix (ECM) skin proteins - benefits silver-based dressings do not offer.
MedCu wound dressings are the only FDA and CE-cleared antimicrobial wound dressings impregnated with copper oxide particles on the market, backed by more than 15 years of research, over 25 peer-reviewed publications and 30 worldwide patents.
